Association of Professional Landscapers Awards 2012
One of Suffolk’s best landscaping companies have struck gold at the recent APL Awards. The annual Association of Professional Landscapers awards ceremony took place at the stunning Kensington Roof Gardens in London on 14th March 2012.
Roger Gladwell Landscapes won an APL award in the Project Value £30,000 – £60,000 category. Their winning entry saw the creation of a secluded courtyard town garden in the centre of Woodbridge. The Mediterranean-inspired contemporary courtyard garden was completed with six-way sawn sandstone paving stones, the installation of river-washed cobbles and Western Red Cedar seating and pergola detailing.
The Judges commented: “There is a nice use of colour, detail and bank of plants. Demonstrates true landscapers art. Unusual design and original construction features. A garden that you would like to sit in.”
Ben Gladwell (who worked on the project) from Roger Gladwell Landscapes, said of their award win, “We are thrilled that this project has been given an award. It was quite challenging technically, and access was limited. We were very happy with the finished garden, and our clients were also really delighted.”
Chair of the judging panel and APL, Mark Gregory said,“We had a very tough decision on our hands. Often there will be one or two entries that really stand out but this year there were several that were outstanding. Many congratulations to Roger Gladwell Landscapes on their success.”
The awards, sponsored by Bradstone, which celebrate their 16th anniversary this year, recognise and promote the very best in landscaping undertaken by APL members in categories that range from smaller projects to garden maintenance to contracts of over £100,000. The awards are a celebration of the high standards that have been achieved by members demonstrating the APL’s commitment to quality landscaping.
This year’s judging panel consisted of Mark Gregory (Landform Consultants), James Steele-Sargent (Arun Landscapes), Adam Frost (Adam Frost Designs), Jo Thompson (Jo Thompson Designs) and Jason Lock (DeakinLock Garden Design).
